Denman Island

For our second week of travelling we ventured further north up Vancouver Island. We hopped on the worlds longest cable ferry and crossed Baynes Sound arriving on Denman Island. We pulled our 48ft rig through the narrow island roads arriving fifteen minutes later at our family friends place. We pulled over to the side of the road to assess the task ahead of backing Yūkō Trailer through our friends driveway and into a suitable parking spot. Our friends had done some prep work in advance of cutting back some of the tree limbs we were bound to snag on the way in but it still wasn’t enough meaning we had to pull out the ladder and saw and climb up the fir tree next to the drive way and trim a few more low laying branches.
The rigs tires were caked with mud and we made a mess of the grass around but in a little under an hour we backed Yūkō down the driveway into what we thought was a fairly level spot. Upon unhitching and engaging the auto leveler, we soon realized that the driveway was not so level. By the time we finished leveling the trailer the tire on one side were four or five inches higher off the ground than the other side. We hooked up power and water to our RV, put out the slides and began to settle down.
We didn’t end up visiting many places on Denman as we spent most of our time there visiting our friends and using it as a base to explore some of the other surrounding islands. Emily was also down for the count a couple of days due to an unknown allergic reaction that developed into a full body rash calling for a visit to the emergency room in order to get the reaction under control again. We did however visit Graham Lake Fillongley Provincial Park while we were there. One night for dinner we visited the Chuck Wagon and picked up some yummy tacos. We also picked up some East Cider Orchard apple juice which is always a favorite whenever visiting Denman.
Our time on Denman overall was very lovely visiting friends and cats and hope to be back there one day in the future.
